Most jewellers will sell you a $20 cardboard sleeve and pretend it doesn't matter. We disagree. The moment she opens the box is the first frame of the proposal. All the years after will rewind to that frame. So we made three boxes, each for a slightly different moment, each tested against fourteen microfibre samples before we kept one.

II.Why these boxes look different

I tested fourteen microfibre samples before I kept one. The first eight felt like polyester pretending. The next four caught light wrong. The thirteenth was almost there. The fourteenth held its shape under three weeks of cabinet pressure and still photographed like velvet. That is the one in your hand when the package arrives.

She'll remember the box, not the twenty dollars you saved at the jeweller's counter.

The hinges close with a soft, deliberate weight. Not the cheap snap of a $9 Amazon box. Not the loud clack of a costume-jewellery shell. Something in between, calibrated over eight Sovereign prototypes until it sounded like a promise closing.
