A heart shape done with restraint
The heart shape is the riskiest decision a ring box can make. Done badly, it's kitsch. Done well, it's the only shape that says everything without a word. We shaped the Lumière to sit on the right side of that line : a soft, rounded contour that reads as sincere rather than cartoonish.
When the lid opens, the LED lights the velvet bed from below and the ring above floats in the warm glow. That micro-second of light, between the click of the clasp and her eyes registering the stone, is what makes the Lumière unfair.
